BTEC Level 3 National Diploma In Sport (equivalent to two A levels)

This is intended as an Applied General qualification, equivalent in size to two
A Levels. It has been designed as part of a two-year programme, normally in conjunction with one or more qualifications at Level 3. This qualification is aimed at learners looking to progress to higher education in this sector.

720 GLH (895 TQT)

Equivalent in size to two A Levels.
9 units of which 6 are mandatory and 3 are external.

Level 2 Certificate In Supporting Learning in Physical Education & School Sport

The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport is designed to introduce the learner to a number of roles in providing Physical Education and School Sport (PESS). The qualification will develop their knowledge and skills in order to be able to support the delivery of PE and sport activities in a school sport environment under the direct supervision of a more qualified individual. While it is delivered through the medium of PESS, the skills may be used by learners aspiring to work in other sporting roles, such as coaching.

Learners may seek employment or in a voluntary capacity as a PESS support deliverer or as other roles identified within the specification.

Complete a series of written tasks,

Prepare for, lead and review a Physical Education and School Sport activity programme.

All assessment is contained within the Learner Portfolio. Successful completion of this learner portfolio will result in the achievement of the qualification.

FA Level 1 in Football Coaching

The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football, leading to the achievement of the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Football qualification, is the first stepping-stone on the core coaching pathway. It will provide you with an introduction to coaching the game and working with players from under 7 to open age.

You will gain insight into the game in England, how it is played and how you can coach to better support the development of future players.

The course of learning is made up of eight guided learning, face-to-face workshops covering a range of topics linked to the England DNA, as well as some directed learning opportunities via three eLearning modules hosted on The FA Learning Management System (LMS). The eLearning modules cover core topics including the role of the coach, long-term player development and The FA Plan, Do, Review model.

BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport (Equivalent to two A levels)

*BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sporting Excellence & Performance (Equivalent to one A level)*

(taking the above qualification in year 2 is dependant on meeting our academic/programme expectations in year 1)

This is intended for post-16 learners who want to progress directly to employment as a sports performer or to work in a sports performance organisation. When studied alongside other Level 3 qualifications as part of the study programme, it also supports progression to a range of higher- education courses.

360 GLH (480 TQT) Equivalent in size to one A Level.

Three units, all of which are mandatory

  • Careers in the sport and active leisure industry
  • Health, Wellbeing & Sport
  • Professional Sports Performer

FA Level 2 in Football Coaching

This nationally recognised qualification, awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications will take you on a journey through the core components of the England DNA – How We Coach, How We Play, How We Support and The Future Player, helping you to begin shaping or refining your own coaching philosophy.

The course is made up of 20 guided learning, face-to-face workshops covering a range of topics linked to the England DNA, split into three blocks of learning

Block 1 – How We Coach

Block 2 – How We Support and The Future Player

Block 3 – How We Play.

Level 3 Certificate in Supporting The Delivery Of Physical Education & School Sport

This qualification introduces (or consolidates knowledge, depending on previous experience and qualifications) learners to a number of roles in providing Physical Education and School Sport (PESS). While it is delivered through the medium of PESS, the skills may be used by learners aspiring to work in other sporting roles, such as coaching.

This qualification prepares learners for employment in a school sport setting through providing an introduction to opportunities to work as a physical education and school sport professional, such as a children’s activity professional; sports development officer; sports coach; sports volunteer or leader.

The qualification can help you become a qualified Teaching Assistant (TA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This is because four of the components within this qualification are available within the complete Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.

120 GLH (280 TQT)

Complete a series of written tasks, linked to the assessment criteria, prepare for, lead and review a Physical Education and School Sport activity programme

All assessment is contained within the Learner Portfolio. Successful completion of this learner portfolio will result in the achievement of the qualification.

Our third year is optional, it allows students to continue their education whilst working part. It’s particularly useful for students who wish to stay and continue their football as well as achieving further qualifications before moving to university, on US scholarships or furthering their CV for industry employment.

Active IQ Level 2 Certificate In Fitness Instructing (Gym)

This qualification aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, deliver and supervise safe and effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment. During the qualification learners will cover:

  • Anatomy, physiology and nutrition and how they relate to exercise and fitness.
  • Health and safety in the fitness environment.
  • The skills to conduct client and group inductions in a gym-based environment and support exercise adherence and a healthy lifestyle.
  • The skills to plan, instruct and supervise safe and effective exercise and physical activity sessions.
  • Professionalism for fitness instructing.
  • Personal and professional development.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service.
